Celebrity Chef Dinners at the Newport Beach Food & Wine Festival 2017

We recently wrote about the Newport Beach Food and Wine Festival, with our recommendation to get your tickets as soon as possible. As part of this exceptional event, there are three separate VIP Dinners prepared by teams of Celebrity Chefs. Here we are going to shine a spotlight on the most important things you need to know about each of these dinners.

VIP Dinner Number One:

Hosted at The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar in Newport Beach. Friday, September 29th, 2017 - 6pm to 10pm.

The dinner will begin with a one-hour cocktail reception including hand-passed hors d’oeuvres overlooking Newport Harbor with a meet-and-greet with the chefs, followed by a 4-course tasting wine pairing menu. Master Sommelier, Michael Jordan, will discuss each pairing and chefs will discuss each dish. Chefs will be available for Q&A during the dessert course.

Hubert Keller: Multiple award-winning, Top Chef Master finalist, author and contributor of best-selling cookbooks, star of PBS show “Secrets of a Chef.” Executive Chef at Fleur, and Founder of widely popular Burger Bar Restaurants.

Yvon Goetz: Executive Chef and Owner of The Winery Restaurant & Winery. Named “Chef of the Year” by Golden Foodie Awards. His restaurant won OC Concierge Association’s “Restaurant of the Year” award in 2008, 2009, and 2013.

Jean-Pierre Dubray: After taking several Ritz-Carlton Hotel Restaurants to new heights, Jean-Pierre joined The Resort at Pelican Hill as Executive Chef. He has won numerous awards and brings a lifetime of fine dining experience.

Rainer Schwartz: Executive Chef at Driftwood Kitchen. His cooking style focuses on simplicity by using only the best possible, high quality, seasonal ingredients in his dishes. One of his passions is to pair each dish on his menu with the best possible wine selection.

Michael Jordan: World-Renowned, Multiple Award Winning Master Sommelier. Currently Director of Global Key Accounts for Jackson Family Fine Wines.

VIP Dinner Number Two:

Hosted at Waterline Newport Beach at Balboa Bay Club & Resort. Friday, September 29th, 2017 - 6pm to 10pm.

The dinner will include a one-hour cocktail reception with hand passed hors d’oeuvres overlooking the bay during a meet-and-greet with chefs, followed by a 5-course tasting wine pairing menu. The Master Sommelier will discuss each pairing and chefs will discuss each dish. The chefs will be available for Q&A during the dessert course.

Brooke Williamson: Top Chef Winner, Former Host and Mentor on MTV’s “House of Food,” Executive Chef of Da Kikokiko and previously of several other restaurants.

Shirley Chung: Top Chef 1st runner-up, Executive Chef of Twenty Eight, former Executive Chef at China Poblano. She is currently working on her next concept in Los Angeles.

Casey Thompson: Top Chef three-time finalist, Executive Chef at The Inn at Santa Fe in San Diego, former executive chef for Shinsei in Dallas.

Rachel Haggstrom: Executive Chef of Balboa Bay Resort, formerly of the Monarch Beach St. Regis Hotel, and The French Laundry in Yountville, CA.

VIP Dinner Number Three:

Hosted at NOBU Newport. Sunday October 1st, 2017 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

The dinner will be led by Nobu Matsuhisa, world-renowned chef, restaurateur, author, and multiple award-winner. One-hour cocktail reception with hand-passed hors d’oeuvres with meet-and-greet with Chef Nobu, followed by a multi-course tasting champagne with pairing menu by Moet Hennessy.
