December Holiday Events in Orange County

With the moderate year-round temperatures and an endless array of indoor and outdoor activities, Orange County is the perfect place to celebrate every changing season. With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas quickly approaching, it’s just a matter of time before we officially enter winter. With this in mind, we have rounded up a few notable events occurring in December that can serve as the perfect place to kick off this holiday season.

You will want to mark down your calendar for these events:

Annual Showing of It’s a Wonderful Life at the Lido Theater
When: December 14th - 17th at 1 PM and 7 PM
Ring in the holidays by enjoying the classic Christmas film, It’s a Wonderful Life at the landmark Lido Theater in Newport Beach, Friday, December 14th through Monday, December 17th, which will be shown at 1 PM and 7 PM each day. In addition, on Saturday, December 15th at 6 PM, moviegoers can visit with Santa, and enjoy carolers and complimentary hot cocoa prior to the 7 PM movie starting.

5th Annual Christmas Light Walk at Sherman Library & Gardens
When: December 14th - 22nd from 5 PM to 8 PM
2018 marks the 5th anniversary of the Christmas Light Walk, where visitors can stroll through the Gardens and enjoy unique holiday light displays and festive decorations, while listening to Christmas. Additionally, a hot chocolate bar, wine, beer, coffee, snacks, and make-your-own s’mores kits are available for purchase. Admission is free for Sherman Library & Gardens members, or $10 for non-members.

110th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade
When: December 19th - 23rd at 6:30 PM
Locals and visitors alike can enjoy the spectacle from a variety of public viewing locations including numerous waterfront restaurants and the 10.5-acre Marina Park. Festivities will begin in Marina Park at 4:30 PM, with family-friendly activities including face painters, caricature artists, LA Chargers football toss competition, and food vendors. Onlookers will also be treated to a live musical performance by The Young Americans. On opening night, the parade will commence with a spectacular fireworks display at approximately 6:15 PM from Newport Pier.
