The Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival
One of the most anticipated events in Newport Beach, the Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival is described as “the most exclusive, intimate and world-class epicurean lifestyle event in Southern California.” And as Orange Coast Magazine puts it, “You might call it a who’s who of culinary masterminds and master sommeliers.” So it should not come as a surprise that a few of the exclusive events are already sold out, including the VIP Riedel glass education and tasting with Hundred Acre Winery, and the VIP Champagne and caviar tasting. We recommend reserving your spot at any of the other events soon.
According to the event’s website, “You’ll enjoy one-of-a-kind dinners by celebrity chefs and local masters, taste bites from 40 different top restaurants with their executive chefs and sip from over 250 varieties of wines, spirits and craft brews. VIP events, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, master sommelier tasting panels and interactive mixology courses will all be offered throughout the weekend festivities.”
Daily Entry to the Wine & Food Festival, or more appropriately named “Grand Tasting” ticket, is $150 per day. This gets you access from 2 to 6:30PM to taste wines from the likes of Michael Mondavi, Cherry Pie, and Duckhorn. And at the same time, the event will host cooking demonstrations from Top Chef powerhouses such as Fabio Viviani and Orange County’s own Amar Santana (Chef and Partner of Vaca, Costa Mesa and Broadway by Amar Santana, Laguna Beach). The event also features daily wine-tastings and educational panels led by master sommeliers, including Michael Jordan, Peter Neptune, and Justin Baldwin of Justin Vineyards.
Some other notable chefs who will be featured at the event are: Katsuji Tanabe, Richard Blais, Nobu Matsuhisa, Hubert Keller, Brooke Williamson, and many more. This is far from an exhaustive list. For a full program of events, sommeliers, and chefs that will be featured, visit the Newport Beach Wine & Food website.
The Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival takes place Friday, September 29th to Sunday, October 1st. Spend the weekend sipping, swirling, and eating while you rub elbows with and learn from some of the top names in wine and food.
